Before you start

Choose what to sell

Choosing what to sell and how to motivate your buyers to buy it, is a fundament of your success. Because we know exactly, how difficult and important this part is, we prepared some useful Tips & Tricks for you to study them and increase your sales. Read those guidelines carefully and decide What to sell.

Decide how to sell

Choosing your business strategy and deciding how to sell and how to approach your buyers is just as important as finding the right product for the market. Read and about possible Business strategies on Dealstocker in our Tips & Tricks section. Learn more about how to make a market research, how to understand the buyer’s perspective, how to set the right price that will attract most buyers and which business strategies are best for any given situation.

 

Sign in as seller

If you are already registered seller, sign in by clicking the “Sign In” button in the right top menu bar to enter your profile.

 

Sell new product 

Click “Sell new product” button in the left menu or click the big blue “+ SELL NEW PRODUCT” button at the top of your profile. This huge button will accompany you in every sub-šage of your profile, so if you suddenly get an idea of what to sell, you can start doing so form wherever you are in your profile.

 

Add your products

Select category

Select the category that describes your product best. Choosing the right category enables buyers to find your product faster and easier via random search engine or browsing from left category menu.


Selecting category:

 

  1. Select categories by clicking suggested sub categories down to the lowest levels.
  2. All levels must be selected.
  3. If you are not sure, which category is most appropriate for your product, try to browse Dealstocker for similar products first, to learn from others.
  4. When you have reached the lowest level, click “continue” button below.
  5. Your selected category appears at the top of the page numbered with 0 CATEGORY (for example: Antiques > Antique Clocks > Bracket Clocks > Pre-1900)


Changing category:

You can change your category settings by clicking “Change category (you will lose all inserted data)” link below. If you choose to change category after you filled in most of the form, you will lose all entered data.

Add product title

Use a good and catchy title that defines and describes your product best.

 

  • It is all about keywords. Choose them carefully and wisely, since your buyer search capabilities depend on it.
  • Only 40 characters are available for your product title. Be specific and try not to use to much technical specifications in the title itself but rather in short product description.
  • If possible use manufacturer’s official product title.
  • Use only specifications, used by manufacturer. For example Apple iPad 16G (defines the memory size) or Samsung Galaxy  Tab 10.1 (defines the size of the device)
  • Do not use any personal opinion of the device in the title, like “beautiful Apple iPad…”.

Set quantity

Set quantity of items you would like to sell. The more you offer, the better the price should be (More is less policy).

 

  • Available items: Enter the number of items you would like to sell. Deal will only be successful if exactly the same number of buyers joined the deal. If not, the deal will fail and no items will be sold. Read business strategies tips to decide about the quantity.

 

  • Minimal number: Check the “I have minimal limit” box to use this option. Minimal number is the minimum number of items you are prepared to sell. This means that the deal will close successfully if the minimum number of items is reached. For example. You can offer 20 items. If you set the minimal number to 10, the deal will be successfully closed even if 10 people joined the deal. You have to decide whether or not the income from 10 items is still acceptable for your business. Read business strategies tips to decide about the quantity.

Set expiration date

By setting expiration date you determine how long you would like your listing to run. Buyers can only join your deal when it is active. Buyers will often be willing to wait a little extra time for better price. Setting a longer duration may therefore be to your advantage. Adopt you selling strategy accordingly.

 

  • Expires on: You can choose the expiration date manually by selecting from pull down menu or clicking the calendar icon on the right.

 

  • Choose days: Choose preset 7 and 14 day duration from the pull down menu. The maximal deal duration time is 14 days.

 

Deal ending time does not depend on the deal published time. All deals close at midnight. Also consider time zones in countries you decide to ship your items to. Read more about shipping in Shipping section.

 

Upload beautiful photos

Upload photos to impress and attract your buyers. The better the pictures, the greater the chance of your success. When uploading photos please make sure you do not violate any copyrights, trademarks or other intellectual property rights. If you should choose to use third party photos and images, make sure to add the source link or a watermark of the owner or contact the owner and ask for permission to use them. In most cases, however, you can freely use official promo material released by the manufacturer. Do not use photo material from other Dealstocker seller if you are not sure about his copyrights, trademarks or other intellectual property rights or without his explicit consent. Photo guidelines:

  1. If possible, use product manufacturer official promo picture as the main picture (first picture in the listing).
  2. For other 3 pictures take your own photos.
  3. If possible avoid using mobile phones built in cameras or cheap compact cameras. Use DLSR cameras instead.
  4. Use different angles of your product (top, side, bottom, isometric perspective…).
  5. Also capture tags, certificates and any declarations within your pictures to prove that products you are selling are genuine and new.
  6. Try to use natural light or sunlight if possible. If you choose to use lights or flash light use it wisely.
  7. Use white background if possible to reduce background distortions. This way, your product will stand out. It is also more practical, it looks better and it fits the design of the website perfectly. Remember, your product is the focal point of the picture.
  8. When taking photos, use higher resolutions. You will however, be asked to resample your images to a lower resolution, when uploading the photos.
  9. Take pictures in raw format. This will enable you better editing capabilities in post-production.
  10. Create a new folder on your computer, rename it and download photos from your device in to newly created folder.
  11. Be systematic. Try to name and archive your folders systematically so you will easily find them when you need them (for reactivating a deal for example).

 

Edit photos:

Edit your photos, using preferred editing software like Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Lightroom.


Image size

 

  • Single image size should not exceed 2 Mb.
  • To reduce the size of the photo, resample your original image to 72dpi (standard screen resolution used for web).
  • Crop your image to center the item. Make sure, that the longer side of your image is at least 1000 pixels.
  • If necessary, adjust brightness and contrast and add color correction.
  • Make sure, to flip your photo correctly (clockwise or ant-clockwise).

 

Image format

 

  • Save your photos and images as jpg, png or gif format.
  • Other picture formats are not supported and not allowed!

 

Upload photos

Upload your photos by clicking “Upload picture” button or the blank rectangle. Pop-up window will appear.

 

Upload options

 

  • To upload from your computer click the blue “Upload picture” button, and browse the folder with your photos on your computer. Uploading usually takes several moments, depending on the size of the picture. The picture should appear in the rectangle. If it doesn’t please recheck if you did everything as you were supposed to by reading Photo guidelines.

 

  • Use Get it from web, if the picture already exists on the web. This option is suitable to grab official promotional photos from the manufacturer website. Simply copy/paste the picture URL in to the empty form and click “Get it”. If the URL is valid (it usually contains .jpg, .png or.gif extension) the picture will appear in the rectangle. If it does not appear, check the URL you entered once again.


Number of photos

 

  • You must upload all 4 photos. If you do not, you will not be able to finish your listing and publish it.
  • Try not to use same picture twice. Every picture should be unique.
  • The first photo in the row will be the main photo and will be shown in the listing and product page.


Changing, replacing and removing your photos

 

  • You can change your photos whenever you wish, even when deal is published or closed. Read Joining policy for more information on why we allow changing photos when deal is published and active.
  • To change or remove your photo, sign in as seller.
  • Go to your profile -> home -> My items -> Active ( or closed, depending on which photo you would like to change).
  • Select the deal you would like to edit and click “Edit product” button.
  • Replace, change or remove your photos by clicking “Upload picture” button.
  • Choose the photo you would like to replace the existing one with.
  • The new photo will replace the old one and appear in the frame.

 

Describe your product

Describe your product comprehensively to inform your buyers. List all specifications, details, benefits and parts included. When describing your products please make sure you do not violate any copyrights, trademarks or other intellectual property rights. If you should choose to use third party description, make sure to add the source link of the owner or contact the owner and ask for permission to use it. In most cases, however, you can freely use official descriptions, specifications and press releases and promo material provided by manufacturer. Do not use descriptions from other Dealstocker seller if you are not sure about his copyrights, trademarks or other intellectual property rights or without his explicit consent. Your description of listed items must be accurate, true, not misleading in any way and in accordance with all applicable laws, Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000, Sale of goods act and e-commerce regulations 2002. For more information please read our Seller responsibilities policy, Listing policy and Terms and conditions.

Short description:


Describe your product with 500 words. This short description will be shown in a consistent form on the product front page for the first impression. Short description should attract buyers and provide quick information they need. Provide information such as, brand, color, size etc…

Full description:


Describe your product in detail. List all the benefits, specifications, and parts included. Provide as many product specifics as possible, such as color, size, type, model, technical specifications etc. Be systematical keep nice and clean design.  

 

1. Editing tips:

 

    • Toggle full screen view: For better overview, select “Toggle full screen mode” button in the editor task bar. Text editor will open in new window. When you are done editing your text, simply close the tab or new window or press ctrl + s. The content will be saved automatically.

 

    • copy/paste: You can paste selected text in to the text editor from any other website. Note however, that all HTML markers and styles will be deleted and the text will be pasted as a plain text with no styles. You must edit your pasted text with editor tools in editor toolbar.

 

    • Text editing: Use text edit toolbar to bold, italic or underline text. For headings use "Format" drop down menu. Heading styles are pre-defined and cannot be changed. If you should find out, that text was not edited as you imagined (when publishing the deal), you can always go back and change or edit it.

 

    • Images and tables: To insert image click the "Insert/edit image" in toolbar. To insert image paste image URL in to the "Image URL" field. You cannot upload images from your computer.

 

    • Html and preview: To edit html code click "Edit HTML source" and preview in the new window.

 

Delivery and shipping options

Delivery options:

Choose the delivery options by clicking the pull down menu and let your buyers know, if your items are available in their region or country. This depends on whether or not you ship to specific countries. Also select how long it will take you to deliver the goods to your buyers. The countdown stars after the deal is closed successfully. Delivery options will be displayed in your listing and product page under Delivery. Read more about delivery in our Delivery policy. You are legally obliged to deliver your items within listed delivery time. The delivery time countdowns starts from the day, the seller receives payment from an individual buyer.

  • Next day: Buyers will receive your items one day after deal is closed successfully.

 

  • 2 working days: Buyers will receive your items at least 2 working days after deal is closed successfully, excluding weekend days and/or holidays.

 

  • 3-5 working days: Buyers will receive your items within 3-5 working days after deal is closed successfully, excluding weekend days and/or holidays.

 

  • 5-7 working days: Buyers will receive your items within 5-7 working days after deal is closed successfully, excluding weekend days and/or holidays.

 

  • 1 week: Buyers will receive your items within 1 week after deal is closed successfully, excluding weekend days and/or holidays.

 

  • 1-2 weeks: Buyers will receive your items within 1-2 weeks after deal is closed successfully, excluding weekend days and/or holidays.

 

Select countries:

Select countries to which you would like to ship your items. You can set countries to which you ship your items in you seller profile -> profile settings -> shipping settings. Shipping options will be displayed in your listing and product page under Shipping. Read more about shipping in Shipping section and our Delivery policy. You are legally obliged to ship to countries you selected in your listing.

 

  • Use default shipping settings: Your shipping settings from your profile will always appear as default settings in every new deal you publish. You can however change shipping options for every deal.

 

  • Change shipping options: To change shipping options click “Edit shipping countries” link below the listing. New pull down menu will appear. Choose any country from the pull down menu. Selected country will appear below. To remove selected country, simply press “x” symbol before.

 

  • Changing delivery and shipping options: once you click “Save & preview” and the deal is published, you can no longer change those parameters. It is important that you think carefully before you publish the deal. Please read more on why we have this restriction in our Joining policy.

 

  • Legal notice: You are legally obligated to ship the items according to terms and conditions under which you published the deal. Read more about shipping in Shipping section and our Delivery policy.


If your item is time related or to a certain event, like concert tickets, please consider the time to ship the items to joined buyers.

 

Set price

To set the best possible price, which will motivate your buyers, first browse existing and similar deals and adapt your business strategy accordingly. Your price will most probably depend on your business strategy and other factors, like deal duration (the longer the deal, the lower the price), quantity (the more products you offer and sell, the lower the price should be), whether or not you have an existing stock of items you are selling or if you are selling refurbished items.   • Include VAT. According to EU directives and regulations all prices listed must already include VAT. Learn more about VAT.

 

  • Include shipping costs. Dealstocker has a unique What you see in what you get policy, which enables buyers to actually see what they will pay for their product right away and not at the end of the checkout. So think carefully to which countries you will ship your items and avoid greater expanses. Determining your shipping costs can be tricky. Carefully measure and weight your package and choose the best carrier for the job. Choose the right package (letter, box, etc.) and other necessary packaging material and determine the shipping costs for the countries you ship to with your carrier. Try to uniform the packages for all items you sell. learn more about shipping costs and packing in Shipping section.

 

Payment methods

Decide how you would like to get paid and present those options to your buyers. According to our Payment policy, regulations and applicable laws, sellers are legally obliged to accept all payment methods they selected and offered as possible accepted payment methods in their listing. This will help your potential buyers decide whether presented payment methods are within their capabilities or not, and whether or not they are able to join the deal.
You can set your preferred payment methods from your seller profile -> profile settings -> payment methods. Selected payment methods will be displayed in your listing and product page in Payment methods section.


Use default payment methods

Your payment methods from your profile will always appear as default methods in every new deal you publish. You can however change payment methods for every deal.

 

Change payment methods

To change paying methods click “Edit payment options” link below. New pull down menu will appear. Select or unselect any payment option. Once you click “Save & preview” button and the deal is published, you can no longer change those parameters. It is important that you think carefully before you publish the deal. Please read more on why we have this restriction in our Joining policy.

 

Optimize your business

You can make your product more visible by choosing the exposed product option.

Exposed

When user searches for a specific product using keywords or browsing by categories, exposed products will be exposed in search and catalog section on the top of the list. In order to get your products exposed, you will have to buy credits. To do so click the buy more button. Learn more about credits in Credits section.

 

No additional service

No additional service is selected by default. This means, you will not be charged any fees and your products will be listed accordingly.

 

Agree to terms and conditions

To publish your deal you must agree to Dealstocker’s Terms and conditions. Please read them carefully.


Terms and conditions is a legal document that describes and outlines the relationship between you (a seller or buyer) and Dealstocker. It explains and describes buyers’ and sellers’ rights, recommendations, responsibilities, agreements and obligations in accordance with our rules for buyers, rules for sellers, Dealstocker policies and applicable laws.

 

Preview and publish

Preview your listing carefully and thoroughly once again.  Make necessary adjustments and you are ready to go!

 

Your chances of success

Here is yet another candy from us to help you be the best! Before your deal is published, the deal success chart is displayed showing you where you stand with your deal in comparison with other, similar deals.

 

Good news

If a good news notification is displayed, we didn’t find any similar competitive products in our database or the price you gave is lower than your competitors’. This is good news, since the chances for your deal being successful are high. Go ahead and publish your deal. Good luck!

 

Bad news

If a bad news notification is displayed, we unfortunately found someone with similar product and better prices in our database, which significantly lowers the chances of your success. Similar products with better chances than yours are displayed below the notification. Review them, and “Go back and edit” your deal accordingly or publish it just as it is by clicking on the “Start selling anyway” button.
